Repeated attacks and ongoing instability linked to armed Fulani herdsmen conflict in parts of the region have turned peaceful villages into humanitarian crisis zones. In response, CityHope Disaster Relief — together with Wave Church Ballito and on-the-ground implementing partner Kingdom Expression — is launching a targeted, multi-phase humanitarian intervention.
The Deepening Humanitarian Emergency
Nigeria is grappling with one of the largest and most overlooked humanitarian crises in Africa. Behind the headlines lie staggering human metrics that demand urgent attention and profound empathy:
Millions remain displaced from their ancestral homes due to deep-seated insecurity. Farmers are systematically cut off from their fields by the constant threat of ambush, leaving fertile lands barren. Local traders face treacherous journeys through unsafe or impassable roads — worsening food shortages and driving inflation across already impoverished communities.
Yet a quiet resilience is emerging. In areas where conflict has temporarily subsided, families are slowly turning back to their fields. They want to rebuild. They want to cultivate their own food. But they cannot do it empty-handed.
Phase 1: Delivering Relief and Restoring Dignity
The initial phase is designed to directly support more than 180 highly vulnerable households — transforming the lives of over 900 individuals through strategic, family-focused assistance.
Our framework recognises an essential truth: aid provided to one person elevates an entire household. When a mother receives provisions like rice, cooking oil or beans, those lifelines are shared with children, elders and dependants — extending every donor’s impact far beyond the immediate recipient.
Phase 1 focuses on three of the most severely impacted Local Government Areas: Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu — regions where families have lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods and reliable access to food.

To steward every donation with transparency and maximal impact, the campaign’s deployment funding is budgeted across four pillars of survival and structural recovery:
