Malawi Cyclone Jude Response
845 people Assisted
In March 2025, Cyclone Jude devastated communities in Malawi, destroying homes, disrupting livelihoods, and leaving families in desperate need. In response to a government appeal, Lo Calvary Church Mission, with the support of CityHope Disaster Relief, stepped in to bring vital aid.
With funding of K6,828,900 ($4,000), the programme reached 169 families (845 people) across three districts, providing food parcels, school uniforms, winter clothing, and household essentials. Vulnerable groups , including orphans, widows, the elderly, and child-headed households, were prioritised to ensure the most at-risk families received immediate support.
Stories of hope emerged throughout the response: from orphans leading their households who received food and clothing, to widows and children who saw the relief as nothing short of a miracle. Despite challenges, the response restored dignity, offered comfort, and strengthened resilience for hundreds of families.
This initiative reflects the strength of a three-year partnership between CityHope Disaster Relief and Lo Calvary Church Mission – built on faith, transparency, and a shared commitment to bringing hope in times of crisis.
Together, we continue to stand with Malawi, ensuring that families know they are not forgotten.
