Western Cape Fire Response
124+ INDIVIDUALS Assisted
In March, CityHope Disaster Relief partnered with local organisations to respond to two devastating fires that impacted communities in the Western Cape. Both fires left families displaced and in urgent need of support, and through collaborative efforts, we were able to bring relief and restore hope where it was needed most.
Egoli Informal Settlement, Philippi – 15 March
A fire swept through the Egoli informal settlement (Die Wit Blokke), affecting over 100 people and completely destroying the homes of three families. In response, Every Nation Schaapskraal mobilised quickly to provide critical support. CityHope Disaster Relief Hope Kits were distributed to the affected families, helping them begin the process of recovery. We are incredibly grateful to all who responded with compassion and action.
Wallacedene, Cape Town – 15 March
On the same day, a second fire broke out in Wallacedene, destroying 12 homes and displacing 24 residents. Beautiful Gate South Africa, in collaboration with CityHope Disaster Relief, activated an emergency response. Together, we distributed 12 CityHope Hope Kits, while Ps Fati and the Salvation Army provided additional clothing and food support. These combined efforts brought care, dignity, and a renewed sense of hope to the affected families.
Our heartfelt thanks go to every partner, volunteer, and donor who made these responses possible. Your support transforms tragedy into healing, and together, we continue to rise.
