Kennedy Road Informal Settlement Fire

During the festive season, fires in informal settlements are an all-too-common tragedy. On January 2nd, a devastating fire swept through a section of the Kennedy Road Informal Settlement that we had never responded to before, destroying 36 homes. Thankfully, the quick action of firefighters prevented the flames from spreading further, as many residents were away visiting family.

36 FAMILIES Assisted

The following day, on January 3rd, the CityHope team arrived on the scene to provide support to those affected, and provided each family with a two-plate stove. It was inspiring to witness local organisations coming together to offer relief and care to the victims, showing the power of community in the face of hardship.

Thank you to all who support our mission of bringing hope to those in crisis. Together, we make recovery possible.
