STATUS OF RESPONSE: IN PROGRESS

Responding to the urgent water shortage in Embo township schools, CityHope Disaster Relief distributed 1000 liters of water across local primary and high schools. At Khabazela High School, the situation was critical, with students dependent on a poorly maintained jojo tank for drinking water, disrupting education and forcing early school dismissals.

Our action, delivering 50x 20L containers of water, directly addressed this acute need, ensuring students and staff had access to clean drinking water and could maintain regular school hours. This initiative not only improved the immediate learning environment but also highlighted the broader issue of water scarcity affecting educational institutions.

Challenges faced during this drive were significant, but the positive outcome reinforces our commitment to solving immediate disaster-related problems while working towards long-term solutions. We thank our community and partners for their support and emphasise the ongoing need for engagement and resources to secure water access for all affected schools.
