Flood Damage Kwa-Mashu | 12 March
Tuesday, 12 March 2019On the 12th March 2019 heavy rains battered KZN. Heavy rain and flooding in parts of KwaMashu, Inanda, Verulam and Ntuzuma in KwaZulu-Natal left a number of homes flooded and damaged.
Numerous families in informal settlements across KZN lost their homes to the heavy rains. CityHope was able to support in KwaMashu, where we partnered with AFM Maranatha Church to distribute relief aid to 65 families in the area. The church assisted with vetting the situation and compiling the list of affected families. The CityHope team facilitated the distribution on Saturday 16th March and distributed 65 Hope Kits and a few boxes of clothing to the community. The distribution took place at a local school and the community meet behind locked gates. The relief was well received and appreciated by the members of the community.
