KwaZulu-Natal Floods April 2019
Incessant rain between East London and Durban has lead to widespread flooding along the coast. More than 200mm fell in a 48hr period around Durban, while the average rainfall for the month of April is only 73mm. The Durban floods have claimed multiple lives, caused mass evacuations and put large parts of the city underwater. Houses built into the hillside were seen falling away, as mudslides accounted for several homes amidst the devastation.
